care packages with friends!

21. Become a Pen-Pal with a Soldier or send soldiers a care package.

Trent and Claire are both too young to be pen pals, but care package are right up our alley.  We had three families join us for the fun.  Each participating family chose certain items to purchase and would buy 4 of each.

Trent, Claire, and I knew we'd be sending our care package to Jimmy.  Lauren gave me a name and address for a friend of hers currently on the ship (who never receives mail)  for the care package Joy and her kids made.  Nicole knows 2 men currently serving in the Army, so her and Alicia's box went to those two.

We started by having the kids draw pictures for their boxes.  Trent drew a little note to Jimmy and a picture of him and Jimmy together.  Claire drew a picture of Jimmy.
We then took some group photos to include in the boxes.

To assemble to the boxes we put each child in charge of certain items and each parent in charge of a box.  The parents would then ask each child for certain items to fill the box.  The kids seemed really excited about the process.

$$ cost includes lots of supplies and flat-rate shipping.
