another dilation poll

Hey folks, I added another dilation poll.  I will be going to the doctor again this Friday at 1pm.  How dilated will I be?

Getting tired of the polls yet?  Well, I think they are fun so I added another one! 

I have a doctors appointment on Friday at 1pm.  I will be 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  The doctor will do an internal exam and tell me how dilated I am or aren't.   How dilated do you think I'll be?

water breaking

to the right you will find another poll.  Did your water break on it's own or did the doctor break it?  If it broke it's own, please share that story!!  where were you, etc?

apparently it's very uncommon for a womans water to break on it's own.  something like only 10% of women. 

epidural

I posted another random poll off to the right.  I'm just wondering what you ladies did in regards to the epidural.  I know I only gave you YES or NO answer choices, and I know it's not that clear cut for everyone, so answer however you want.  If you want to elaborate, leave a comment here. 

if you don't have kids yet, vote for the option you think you will go with.
if you had c-sections, vote based on how whether or not you had planned to get it before it turned into a c/s.

an elaboration of my video poll

Some of you might be wondering why I polled you about video taping the birth of your children.  Well, it was basically just one of those random, off the wall questions I was wondering at the time.  I wasn't trying to decide if I would do it or not, I wasn't looking for angle or lighting advice, and I wasn't looking to pass judgment on anyone either way they voted.  I was just curious if you guys would/did do it or not. (4 said they would/did.  16 said no)

I probably should have been more specific in my original description of the poll, but I was talking about close-up shots of the vagina in all it's glory during the delivery process.  Not just head shots or waste-up's.  But anywho....

I learned when I was pregnant with Trent that my hospital doesn't allow such video taping so it didn't matter if I wanted to do it or not.  Of course If I was dead set on it I would have considered changing birth locations (to the birth center perhaps).  Fortunately for me I never had any interested in video taping, so it didn't matter to me either way. 

I remember before Trent was born I asked my mother-in-law what she'd say if I asked her to video tape Trent's birth.  I was expecting her to make a face and say Eww Absolutely No Way!  At the time I was 100% against the idea, I was just trying to get a rise out of her.  FAIL.  She looked at me with a very straight and serious face and said "sure, I would do it".

Oddly enough, I think I'd consider it this time around if it were allowed.  I would like to witness the miracle of birth from a different angle - one that is less exhausting and painful.  I doubt I will ever be anyone's labor coach, so what better way to experience it than to see my own fruit being ripped from my own loin??  I'm sure I'd only ever watch the video once or twice - and I'm sure I'd never let anyone else view it, but I think it would be something I'd cherish those few times I did sit and watch it.

Christmas Cards opinions

It's that time of year - time to order Christmas cards. Kevin and I plan to send out photo cards containing a picture of Trent, but I'm having a hard time deciding on a photo to use.

I have one particular photo in mind...problem is, it's from last winter. Should I use a more recent photo?

opinions needed

i put a new poll to the left. I need help deciding whether or not we should visit disneyland for the day when we are in California (did I mention we are going to CA to visit Lauren soon?! yay!).

Here are the major factors to consider:
-Trent with be free!
-Trent won't be able to ride many rides
-I wont be able to ride many rides (because im pregnant)
-Kevin will have to ride the fun rides alone
-we'll get great pix of Trent with the characters
-cool experience
-bragging rights that "we've been to disneyland"
-a day of walking when im 6 months pregnant
-December weather
-we don't have much else planned right now (we'll prob hit the zoo, and maybe legoland, but we havent looked into what else we'll want to do yet)

mohawk update

There was a day last week when Kevin noticed that the other little boy at daycare had a mohawk haircut (this boy is 4 years old). Apparently Kevin and Cameron had a conversation about said mohawk, and Kevin asked him if Trent should get that haircut. Cameron said yes. So that's when Kevin called me and asked if he could do it. My gut screamed NOOOOO but I just told Kevin I had to think about it and that we'd talk about it when I got home from work. I was thinking Trent's hair wasn't thick enough for a mohawk yet. I was thikning his scalp wasn't ready for a pair of clippers to buzz it (perhaps a stupid thought?!?). I was thinking I just wasn't ready for such a drastic change. But of course part of me thought it would be awesome. I love seeing little boys with mohawks. But anyway, that's when I posted the poll to the left - right after Kevin asked me. I pretty much already knew my answer was no, but I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys thought. I'm sure the day will come when Trent gets a mohawk - maybe he'll even dye it blue?!?! who knows. But that day is not today.

In other news (related to hair): I've decided that if Baby #2 (more on that later) is a redhead, I'm going to dye my hair to match theirs :-P
