Michelle asks: Do you plan on going back to school at all? What would your ideal career be besides a stay at home mother?


Answer:  hmmmph.  In theory I plan to go back to school this fall.  We'll see.  I need to find some time away from the kids so I can go to the campus and register, then once the semester approaches I'll have to re-evaluate our situation and see if taking a class is something I have time to do. 

I've always struggled with 'what I want to be when I grow up'.  Nothing ever stood out to me.  No real passions in any field.  This is why I didn't bother going to a big University or College.  I didn't want to waste my time and money by taking - what???  I don't even know what major I would have ended up in.  In 9th grade I HAD to choose a "shop" (or leave Hodgson).  I went with Technical Drafting.  I didn't love it or hate it.  From there I got a job and went to community college part-time to take up a field related to what I did in high school.  I mainly chose Architectural Engineering (instead of a different related field) because it sounded the coolest.   I consider myself lucky to have been handed a job right out of high school.  Had that not happened I wonder if I wouldn't have ended up working at Kmart announcing the blue light special for a living. 
But back to the question.  I think my ideal job right now would be a sign language interpreter.  But who knows....once I get into it I might decide it's not for me.
I figure I could either land a job in a school working while my kids are in school, or I can be more of an "on call" interpreter working randomly throughout the day and when I'm available in the evenings. 
I have a lot of work ahead of me before I come anywhere close to being an interpreter....so we'll see what happens. 

Future Schooling

Julie Asks: have you thought about if you will put Trent in preschool and if so which one? also Do you think you will send your kids to public or private school?

Answer: I think we will definitely put Trent in a preschool when the time comes, but as of right now we have no idea which one. We haven't given it any thought at all.

As far as kindergarten thru grade 8, we would love to get into Newark Charter School. Or, if we can afford it, a private school like Independence.

I grew up going to public school and I turned out just fine, so it's not that I'm opposed to public schools. We simply want our children to receive the best education that we, as parents, can give them.

college fund

Anonymous asks: Do you think you will start a college fund for Trent?


Answer: No. As of right now we have no plans of starting a college fund. While we both want our child(ren) to attend college, we understand that it's not for everyone. We figure we will deal with college when the time rolls around, and of course we will make the finances work (between scholarships, grants, loans, savings, etc).
