snow days, part 1

January 12th, we woke to SNOW!  I headed out back to get some photos of Maggie running in the snow, but Kevin tossed Trent out with us.  I ended up not getting any good photos of Maggie, but I got a few of Trent and Claire.

he doesn't like gloves but he doesn't like cold hands either.  whats a boy to do

he went deep into the snow considering he's in pajamas

first time sledding

We took Trent to a very popular sledding spot last night for his very first sledding experience.  He was very take-it-or-leave-it the whole time but he did enjoy the few trips he took down the hill with Daddy.  Good times.

don't leave your cart - not even for a minute

They were calling for the snow to begin literally any minute and guess who needed to go to the grocery store.  Me.  I wasn't in a panic to get milk and bread like all the other nuts out there, I just needed some sour cream for tonight's dinner and a couple other things.  So, I get there around around 5:45pm and it's a mad house - of course.  There were only a couple shopping carts available and they were the ones with race cars and baby seats attached.  I should have grabbed one of those but I figured I could just carry everything.  What was I thinking?  I ended up grabbing 2 things of milk right off the bat (whole milk for the boys and lactaid milk for me), some sour cream and some rolls.  Already my hands are full and I still wanted to grab a few other things.  Kevin requested some ice cream but I didn't have anyplace to put it.  I actually put one of the milks down since it wasn't an absolute necessity (I had only grabbed it because the milk display was fully stocked - i figured 'why not').  As luck would have it, I spotted a lone shopping cart in the middle of the ice cream aisle.  The carts contents: 2 boxes of soup (think onion soup mix) and a sales flyer.  I decided to wait a minute to see if anyone claimed the cart.  I went to the end of the aisle and looked for someone who looked like they might be using the cart.  I waited to see if anyone came out of the bathroom (bathroom and ice cream aisle are right near each other).  Well, nobody claimed the cart - so I did.  I put the 2 boxes of soup on the shelf then I unloaded my arms and went back for the milk I put back.  I swear I felt guilty taking the cart.  I really did.  I kept picturing a little old lady looking up and down the aisle for her cart....and her soup.  Her boxed soup.  Maybe she was too frail to carry 2 boxes of boxed soup and that's why she got a cart in the first place.  I am the devil.  I basically mugged a little old lady.  And do you know what I did after I took her cart?  I went ahead and gathered a few other random items I wanted....not even things I NEEDED - just wanted.  Then I got in line.  When I got home I told Kevin the story of how I hijacked a cart and he said, "you'll be blogging about that later".  ~good idea.

finally, more snow

I'm sure all you Delawareans remember all the snow we got right before Christmas this year.  Upwards of 12 inches.  Or was it more than that?  I don't remember.  Well, we couldn't take Trent out in that snow to play because he didn't have the proper attire.  The snow would  have soaked through anything we dressed him in immediately.  Christmas day rolls around and Uncle Mikey and Amy bought Trent an awesome snow suit, jacket & snow boots!  We couldn't wait until the next day to take Trent out in the snow.

Don't you know it rained ALL DAY and washed the snow away!

I figured with our luck we wouldn't get any more snow this year and Trent would outgrow his outfit.  Well, fortunaltey, we got a couple inches this past Sunday and were able to play in it.  We had Trent so bundled up (think Ralphie's brother) that he could barely move.  Literally.  He'd try to take a step and he'd either fall forwards or backwards - neither of which he minded very much at first.  He would laugh at himself and try to get up - unsuccessfully.  If we didn't help him up rather quickly he'd start to yell at us.  He was super cute.  He especially loved seeing Daddy and Maggie run around in the snow.
(if you zoom in on this picture you can see the big teeth he's getting in the back)
