busy time

I haven't mentioned it (or have I?) but our home laptop has been in the fritz lately. A couple weeks ago it gave me the "blue screen of death". If you ever have a blue screen error on your computer, expect the worst. Like me, you will probably lose all data (pictures, files, etc) that was on your machine. I tried doing a full system restore (which wipes your entire machine clean [internally] leaving you with nothing but the basic factory settings). This, however, did not fix my problem, so we ended up replacing the hard drive altogether. This made the blue screen of death go away, but it opened a new can of worms. Luckily, our initial problems were nothing a computer nerd guy at work couldn't fix. We're currently left with one little issue - an internet issue. Basically, we can't get onto the internet using our wireless router - even though the "thing" (I'm so technical) tells us we are connected to my network (which has full bars). I'm working on fixing this issue.

Fortunately, we still have the old computer that I bought when I was 19 (give or take a year). It too had developed a virus over the years but I was able to get another guy at work to fix it, coincidentally, the day before the laptop crapped out on us. Talk about timing. Long story short (well, not really huh?), we've been using the old computer to get on the internet at home, but it's in the basement that we seldom enter, so we only get on it when we absolutely have to (banking, urgent email checks, etc).

Obviously I still get on the internet all the time when I'm at work....and that brings me to my point....

My point:

It's after 3pm on Wednesday.
Tomorrow I am only working half a day (thank you employer).
Work is closed on Friday.
Saturday = no work.
Sunday = no work.
We leave bright and early Monday for vacation.

Clearly there will be little time for blog updates between now and Monday.

I am definitely taking my laptop on vacation with me, and with any luck I will have no problems getting on the internet while I'm there. I am anticipating a very interesting trip and I want to share the journey with all of you. I also would like to look back and read the blog entries in the future....maybe before deciding to travel with a one year old again, or perhaps when I'm looking to reminisce about the special times when we had only one little angel to tend to.

Oh, and when I said "I'm anticipating a very interesting trip...", I intentionally used the word interesting. Are you asking yourself:

"What exactly does Barbie mean by interesting"?

Well, you should be. I'm asking myself the same thing. Do I think we're going to have a great time - absolutely! Are we looking forward to spending time with Aunt Lauren - without a doubt! Do we have any idea what to expect of our 13 month old during a 6 hour flight out there (and 5 hours on the flight back) - no. Do we know how Trent's going to adjust to the time change - no. Do we know how he will react to a new sleeping arrangement, the beautiful weather, all of the fun things we have planned - no. For lack of a better word, it's all going to be very interesting and I really can not wait (even though parts of the trip have me very scared. Namely, the flights).

If i were booking the flights today, I would book totally different time frames. But I booked everything 4 months ago when life was....different. But oh well, you live and you learn.

Things to take on plane to hopefully make the flight go smoothly for all passengers on board:

1. SNACKS!
2. milk
3. more snacks
4. more milk
5. ear plug things (which I think he will fight us on)
6. toys
7. dvd player
8. SENSE OF HUMOR!
9. patience

See, aren't you already on the edge of your seats wondering how the first flight will go? Or are you just thanking God that you aren't going to be on the same flight as us? Either way, I plan to document this trip and I hope each entry brings a smile to your face.

If for some reason I am unable to connect to the Internet I will still blog about our days, I just won't post the entries until after we are back home. Either way, keep an eye out.
