California - Day 3 - Legoland

As i mentioned before, we all slept until 7am on Wednesday. Kevin had said the night before that he wanted to get to Legoland bright and early the next morning, right when they opened. luckily for us, Legoland didn't open until 10am! this gave us plenty of time to get ready for the day without rushing. Once we were all showered, dressed and fed, we went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Back at the apartment we packed our lunch for the day (in an attempt to save money. you know how over-priced theme park food is!) then took off. It took us 30 minutes to drive to Legoland and a few additional minutes to get through the pay-for-parking line. Call us gluttons but by the time we got there we were already starving for lunch, so we ate in the car before heading into the park.

When we first got there it was overcast, but still nice. We asked a worker which attractions a one year old would most enjoy and he pointed us to the left, informing us that there was almost nothing for Trent to do over to the right. Good to know. We head to the left and find a few rides and a nice play area.

There was an area for the kids to play in the sand and expose different dinosaur fossils. Trent didn't care for the sand much.

Here we all are waiting in line for our first ride. We had something like a 40 minute wait.

Once again, Trent loved the play area. He enjoyed crawling around from thing to thing and he enjoyed watching the other children have fun. He especially loved the sliding boards. He got just as much excitement from going down the slide as he did from watching the other kids come down.

Ok, the slide wasn't nearly as terrifying as I'm making it seem. I swear. I'm not afraid of slides, honestly!

Shortly after leaving the play area we found a really cool Caricature station. We almost immediately decided to get Trent done as a lego-man.

While the guy was drawing Trent it started to rain, and it didn't stop until after we left the park. It was mostly just a drizzle, but at times it came down hard. So much so that they closed several rides. Fortunately for us the rides that closed were rides that Trent couldn't get on anyway, so it didn't effect us much. Actually, the rain really cleared the place. Well, the gift shops were mad-houses (If they didn't leave the park all together they went to the gift shops for cover). The 4 of us stuck it out. We did a few more rides in the drizzle and we saw a 4-D show. Before leaving we lost each other in one of the afore mentioned gift shops, where Aunt Lauren bought Trent a very cool set of legos.

Here's the 3 of us leaving the park. Kevin was kind enough to let me wear his jacket the entire day. Trent and I stayed warm and dry while Kevin and Lauren....didn't. I have it good!

One of the things Kevin and I really hoped to do while in San Diego was take a tour of Lauren's navy ship. Unfortunately that wasn't possible because A. Trent is too young, and B. The ship is down to renovations (or something). Still, Kevin convinced Lauren to drive us near enough to the ship so that we could at least see it. She took us over a bridge into Coronado where we could spot the ship from a very far distance. I want to tell you all that the ship was awesome in person, but it was covered in white tarps and we were so far away that I didn't get a good view- not to mention we were driving 60 MPH-but it was still nice to see it. Anyway, while in Coronado we stopped and had dinner at a local brewery. It was a nice place. Kevin enjoyed one of their Winter Ales. After dinner we headed back to the apartment where Trent played with his legos and the dogs. The 3 of us were in bed by 8pm and slept like babies until 7am.
