time to play catch-up

Im not really sure where to begin. I guess ill start by saying Welcome to my blog! Hopefully it wont disappoint. Basically, this blog is going to be primarily all things baby-related. My main objective is to keep our closest family and friends up-to-date with the latest happenings at the Woodland house. Some quick facts:

• i am 31 weeks and 3 days prengant with baby #1.
• Due Date=November 8th, 2008
• we are not finding out the sex of the baby
• Kevin is the father (this is me being funny)
• This will be the 2nd grandchild for my parents (Bob & Linda)
• First grandchild for Paul & Elisa!!
• First great-grandchild for Grandmom Neilson
• Third great-grandchild for Grandmom Woodland

Now, if you're into the old wives tales:

• Based on Chinese Gender Predictor the baby is a girl
• Based on the baby's heartbeat, its a boy
• nipple color points to girl
• apparently its a girl since im not craving the heel of bread
• i like to sleep on my left side AND my right side - it must be a hermaphrodite
• my acne has remained the same (actually its been better), so im having boy (the Proactiv has nothing to do with it ;-)
• according to the veins under my left eye im having a girl
• i crave sweets - its a girl
• Ive been told im carrying like a boy
• but ive also been told im having a girl because my face has changed, hmmm
• my dry hair = its a girl

We'll all find out soon enough.

Kevin and I moved into our new home at the very end of May and one of the very first projects we worked on was the nursery. Kevin worked very hard and made it perfect!! We decided to paint the room nice gender-neutral greens with fun giraffe accents

This is the nursery when we first moved in.

first things first, we painted. Kevin painted the walls 2 shades of green, i drew the outlines for the giraffe spots, then we both painted them in. Then it was time for chair rail. You'd think he'd be installing it all his life - it looks great! Then finally we replaced the old green carpet!!

we went out and ordered a beautiful crib for the baby, but decided that instead of buying a bureau or dresser we'd just re-do the bureau kevin used growing up. Again, kevin was back to work, sanding his old bureau and painting it white to match the crib.

Next project - the closet - dum dum dum

After a quick trip (or 2) to Lowes and a couple hours of measuing and cutting we had ourselves a brand new, more functional, closet (as well as new closet doors)

And this is the convertible Carter crib i love so much! Once our baby it big enough, it will convert into a toddler bed, then a day bed, then finally a single bed w/ head & foot boards! Sounds like a good investment to me....we'll see how it holds up over the years. As a house warming present Grandmom W (this is what ill call kevins mom, elisa) bought the baby its bedding and Great-Grandmom W bought the baby some matching accessories for the room. And if that werent enough, Great-Grandmom W went on to buy the baby an early baby shower present - the mattress!!

And finally: our oh-so-comfortable glider and ottoman! ahhhhhhhh.
